12 November 2010 -By The Citizen Reporters -Ms Anne Makinda, 61, yesterday became the first woman Speaker of the National Assembly at the start of what promised to be an eventful five-year tenure of the Tenth Parliament.The Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr Thomas Kashililah, declared the CCM Njombe South MP the new Speaker by after she polled 265 votes to defeat the opposition candidate, Mr Mabere Marando, who received 53 votes.
