As a recent Kanga volunteer who introduced a peer-to-peer soft-skills coaching program at Ilongero Secondary School, I understand first-hand how critical any and all support is for these girls. They face daily conflicts of priorities caused by economic hardship or very frequently a single-parent household. Girls traditionally are required to take on more of the domestic chores, which compete with school attendance and homework. Many of these girls also have to walk to school and back for food each day from villages more than an hour away. There are many circumstances conspiring to deter families from keeping their daughters in school. The longer they stay in school however, the better off they will be. Education means they more likely to avoid the common pitfalls of teenage life: early pregnancy, alcohol or drug abuse and HIV. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to give their time to these shy, bright girls, but you can help defray the cost of school or fees and reduce the obstacles to their education via a donation.

What an opportunity! I had working for RWD.
To be honest, I sadly missed Singida region and Ilongero town in particular, what the moment i had there! My thoughts and believes goes to the generous people of Tanzania, Singida area and Kenyaturu commuity and other communities.
First of all, i would like to grab this opportunity to say to say thank all the people whom i have known from Tanzania in the course of intenship and would like to apologises for taking so long and aquite period of silience since mid February 2011. To be honest, this not mean i have chose to, but it wasn't my intention to break communication down as it happened, nor was an easy option to take, but it was out of my capacity to take on head, for example, since day one i came back to Australia i was confronted with my personal challenge which i am not intended to tell you about and then came the sickness and had to be admitted in hospital for ten days.
What i am trying to put across here is, i haven't forget people of Tanzania or RWDA, Singida, Illongero, Ntuntu and many villages i have visited. My pledged and promised remain unchanged and they are fresh on my mind and memory every day. I will not stop working with and standby people of Tanzania and RWDA, until i have achieved atleast one objective and promise i had pledged. This mean, i will take on the role of representation and advocate wherever i am.
I am very much excited to learned that RWDA and it proposed projects running as planned. Also not to forget mention YMC, the organisation which i worked part timer and one of the host organisation alongside RWDA, what an opportunity i had with it members, the same message is apply to them, i am preparing myself to fulfil my promises and i am coming, not sure when, but sooner not later than 2012.
Lastly but not least, even if, i took the long period of hibernation still doesn't mean i am completely forget Tanzania as country and the host organisations, it may take what is called patience to understand me. Finally, i missed working with Maria Francise, Immaculator/Mama Patrick, Bonne Angelo, Fidlis, Paul, John and Ramadhan our security guard and finally the visionary Gloria Ndungu.
Illongero environment is most awesome and i missed the maize/mahindi and guest house i used to stay in and owner Mama Jamal. This is not forgetting mention Illongero administrations, the chairperson, villages leaders, councile and general people, the list can go on and on.
In conclsuion, i am trying my best to find a potential sponsor for RWDA and YMC, i have already contacted number of the Philanthropists and NGOs and i am still waiting feedback from them.
I can't wait to go back to Singida region sooner rather than later. I am still contactable on +61402738687 or dengajak@yahoo.com

Thank

A big thank you to Liberty Middle School' students. They have raised $533, more than enough to send a girl to school and apparently they had lots of fun in the process.

Thank you Aseri
It is a nice option. The people of Ilongero will have the final say of course and it may well be some time away. Sorry for such a long delay in replying, I have had an extremely busy month. Will be in touch with you soon if I may as I am very interested in what you do.

Hi,

I have been looking at the Kanga project to be the beneficiary of a large scale fundraising activity I will be doing in the spring of 2010. Could you please contact me at ditt4270@wlu.ca? Given your experience with them, I'd like to get an outsiders perspective on some of the work they have done and hear more about your experience.

Thank you kindly,
Geoff Dittrich
