January is the start of a new year for students of classes I to IV at Secondary Schools in Tanzania. This new year we want to help more girls start and complete a secondary education and so we are adopting a new sponsorship system. Sponsorship monies will now be pooled rather than individually granted, giving us more flexibility in matching a gift to a need.
You see, we have found that sometimes all a girl needs to carry on with her education is for her fees to be paid, while for another it is a uniform, or simply the comfort and energy of a meal during the day. Others, on the other hand may need even greater support than what a normal sponsorship can offer.
In the next few days we will be updating our sponsoring documents to reflect the changes, but why wait? Drop us a line, make a decision, make a big life changing (even life saving) gesture today; sponsor a girl’s education. Changing the world starts here.

As a recent Kanga volunteer who introduced a peer-to-peer soft-skills coaching program at Ilongero Secondary School, I understand first-hand how critical any and all support is for these girls. They face daily conflicts of priorities caused by economic hardship or very frequently a single-parent household. Girls traditionally are required to take on more of the domestic chores, which compete with school attendance and homework. Many of these girls also have to walk to school and back for food each day from villages more than an hour away. There are many circumstances conspiring to deter families from keeping their daughters in school. The longer they stay in school however, the better off they will be. Education means they more likely to avoid the common pitfalls of teenage life: early pregnancy, alcohol or drug abuse and HIV. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to give their time to these shy, bright girls, but you can help defray the cost of school or fees and reduce the obstacles to their education via a donation.
